West Ottawa U15 Boys Win at OSA Cup in Oshawa
Here is a report from the 5 team U15 Boys competition from the OSA Futsal Cup.
Last weekend the WOS Chaos U15 Boys Futsal team traveled to Oshawa to participate in the Ontario Cup. The trip started on a poor weather day for travel with the drive taking upwards of 9 hours to complete which translated in late night/early morning arrivals before the first game.

Up first for the boys was a team from Erin Mills and this was a hard fought game between two evenly matched teams. WOS Chaos hung on for a close 2-1 victory with the highlight of the game being a save by keeper Paul Campbell on a penalty kick with no time remaining to preserve the victory. Game 2 was the London L.A.C. Spartans 97 F.C. and it seemed the long travel day was taking its toll. London jumped out to a 4-1 half time lead but our lads dug deep and mounted a furious 2nd half to comeback to realize a 4-4 tie.
Game 3 was against the West Ottawa Soccer FC Milan (coached by Kyle Washington) which was the team that the Chaos had trained with for this event. The familiarity of the two teams was evident as the score remained close for the first half and WOS Chaos finally shook off the road rust in the 2nd half with a balanced team approach and prevailed 10-4. The final round robin game was against London FC Blue and our team needed a win or tie to advance. Using a balanced attack and strong defence, Chaos won the game 6-1 and ended the round robin as the top seed; facing the Erin Mills team in the Finals on Sunday.
The final game was exciting and the Ontario Soccer Association did a great job in the presentation of the game. Both teams marched onto the floor; player introductions and the national anthem all contributed to the feeling of the big game. With the hard fought game of the day before still fresh in their minds, Chaos came out strong and jumped all over the Erin Mills team. Ben Ivany opened the scoring with a well-placed rocket shot that seemed to take the other keeper by surprise. Continued pressure lead to a 3-1 half time lead and a 6-2 final score with Troy Valters scoring 4 goals in the victory. Special thanks to parents for their vocal support throughout the tournament, Kyle Washington for the great preparation, Cuneyt Kavaslar and Peter Valters for coaching and of course Janne Campbell, our manager who managed all the arrangements and logistics for this tournament.
The 2012 Ontario Futsal Cup U15 Boys’ Champions included: Paul Campbell, Joshua Crosby, Ben Ivany, Cesur Kavaslar, Josh Perry, Raahulan Rathagirishnan, Alex Sorrini, Troy Valters and Andrew Waines. Congratulations boys!
