Toronto Boca Juniors FC Win CPFL Title

Win their third major title of the year.
TORONTO, ONT – The bitterness of defeat last season indeed left a sour taste in the mouths of Toronto Boca Juniors Futsal Club.
They were on the receiving end of a harsh 14-4 loss in the semi-finals of the CPFL last season, the largest margin of defeat the club had faced in its history. But this year they exacted some revenge by taking both the league cup and then then playoff title by beating Barrie Futsal Club 6-3 in front of a packed house at St. Basil The Great this packed Saturday.
After a testy finish to the league title that resulted in three red cards against Goalkeeper of the Year Eduard Orellana, star player Joao Filla for Barrie and to league leading goal scorer Maxi Gonzalez of Toronto, both sides played a defensively tight opening five minutes.
2014 MVP Kevin Correa delivered a pair of goals in the first half before Filla brought Barrie back within one until long time veteran Sergio Marchant extended the lead back to two just before half.
Barrie opened up in the second half and were rewarded quickly when Wilmer Guiterrez notched his 8th goal of the year. They continued to press but were caught on the counter attack by Toronto around the halfway point of the half when Marcel Oertel scored to double up the lead 4-2.
Oertel delivered his second of the night by capping off a great passing series between Chris Duenas and Correa.
Barrie managed to get one back courtesy of Bryan DaCruz but it would not be enough as they fell 6-3.
Both teams will now represent the Greater Toronto Area at the upcoming Futsal Canada National Tournament in Kingston on May 3-4th.
