Calgary, Alberta — There was little doubt who the class of the tournament was by the time the final whistle sounded in Calgary.

Sporting Montréal capped a perfect week at the 2026 Canada Soccer Futsal Championships on Sunday, defeating Saskatoon Green & White 4–0 to secure the Women’s national title and complete an unbeaten run through the competition.

Facing the 2024 champions for the second time in the tournament, Montréal delivered a composed and clinical performance, controlling the match from start to finish to claim their first women’s crown.

At the centre of it all was Shayla He, who rose to the occasion with a hat trick in the final. The Canadian international, already one of the tournament’s standout performers, playing in her first season with Sporting after leaving last-years’ runners-up, FC Underdogs, proved decisive once again—finding space, finishing chances, and setting the tone for Montréal’s attack.

Allana Oriente added the fourth goal to put the result beyond doubt, while goalkeeper Stephanie Nazarov anchored a disciplined defensive effort, turning aside every opportunity that came her way to secure the shutout.

The victory not only sealed the championship but also marked a historic moment for the club. With the win, Sporting Montréal became the first futsal organization in Canada to capture national titles in both the men’s and women’s divisions, adding to their men’s triumphs in 2017 and 2022.

Montréal’s path to the title was as convincing as the final scoreline suggested. They opened the tournament with a win over Saskatoon, set the tone with a 5–1 victory against Halifax Hotspurs FC, and then overcame Ontario champions Windsor Caboto 4–2 in the semi-final to book their place in the final.

Throughout the week, Sporting Montréal combined attacking sharpness with defensive structure, consistently dictating play and showing the depth that would ultimately separate them from the field.

For her performances, Shayla He was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. A CONCACAF champion who represented Canada at the FIFA Futsal World Cup, she delivered when it mattered most, leading a squad that blended experience with emerging talent.

That squad—featuring Selena Chhiv, Magali Gagné, He, Lucie Illy, Christy Kellner, Casey Koscher, Elikla Keyah Merlen, Maria Mihoubi, Nazarov, Maria Nicoriciu, Oriente, Anna-Bianca Stevens-Cardin, Sara Trandji, and Katerina Vassilounis—leaves Calgary having set a new standard in the women’s game.

Historic Achievement for the Club

With the victory, Sporting Montréal made history as the first futsal club to win Canadian championships in both the men’s and women’s divisions. The club previously captured men’s national titles in 2017 and 2022, and now adds a landmark women’s triumph to its legacy.

In the bronze medal match, it was Windsor Caboto defeating Winnipeg Pioneers 8-6.
