
Sporting Lisbon win first UEFA Futsal Champions League
The newly rebranded UEFA Futsal Champions League featured four of Europe’s elite futsal clubs and the matches, as expected, were highly entertaining.

The premier competition in Europe saw the Portuguese champions eliminate elite Spanish side Inter Movistar 5-3 while hosts Kairat Almaty finished off Barcelona 5-2 in the other semi final.
Over 12,000 packed the Almaty Arena for the final, setting a new tournament attendance record, and were treated to a great display of futsal. Sporting emerged as victors courtesy of goals by Alex Merlim and Cavinato and a superb display of goalkeeping by Guitta.

It was Sporting’s first title after three previous trips to the competition which was previously branded as the UEFA Futsal Cup.
