The Solomon Islands have won the Oceania Futsal Championship and become the first nation to earn their ticket to the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.
It was a thriller in New Caledonia as the Kurukuru came back from a 4-2 deficit, scoring the tying goal with only 12 seconds left on the clock and defeated New Zealand 7-6 in penalties. This is the fourth consecutive World Cup that the Solomon Islands have qualified for. Their best result was in 2012 when they earned their first victory in a FIFA competition with a 4-3 victory over Guatemala.
