Ross Ongaro Resigns from Canadian National Futsal Head Coach Position
Edmonton’s Ross Ongaro has resigned from his position as Canadian Mens Futsal National Team Head Coach and will be taking a new position with the Chinese Football Association.
Ongaro had held the position since 2003 and accumulated a record of 2 wins 8 losses and 1 draw with the last win back in 2004 against Panama during a two-legged CONCACAF qualifying series. Ongaro, also resigning as Canada’s Beach Soccer Head Coach, had recently conducted a beach soccer course in China on behalf of FIFA and had also attended the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy last week.
The Canadian Soccer Association is already reviewing qualified candidates to fill in the vacancy and with the current futsal player ID camps for the mens national team scheduled for Toronto and Montreal starting within the next two weeks, a decision may come sooner than later.
