In an effort to further build strong futsal relations between Ontario and Quebec, the QSF Provincial men’s and women’s futsal teams traveled to Toronto this past weekend for their final matches of the indoor season.

A talented group of Quebec’s futsallers, including last year’s Futsal Canada National Tournament men’s MVP Robert Renaud, faced off against local Toronto clubs on Saturday afternoon at the brand new Pan American Sports Centre.

The opening match saw the bleu et blanc face a Toronto Idolo side that has remained undefeated this season. It was a tightly contested match throughout with a series of excellent goals including one delightful flick by Canadian national player Matthew Rios. Idolo utilized their strong rotation skills and experience to eventually carve out a hard earned 4-2 victory.

The women’s side of the game showed plenty of promise for Canadian female futsal as Scarborough, Ontario based GS United were the women’s team selected to participate and they held their own against a very tough Quebec side that featured three Canadian selections.

After finishing the 1st half tied up at two, it was excellent goalkeeping from Team Quebec that made the difference as Quebec went en route to a 5-2 victory.

A great job done by Mike Vitulano, Vincent Cournoyer, Kyt Selaidopoulos, and Co. so far in the Quebec program’s inaugural year.
