Toronto City and Platense Jrs Futsal Clubs Holding Open Tryouts

The Toronto City Futsal Club and Platense Juniors Futsal Club have announced that they are hosting open tryouts for top teenage and mens futsal players in the Greater Toronto Area starting on Wednesday August 12th at Archbishop Romero Secondary School in the Weston Road and Eglinton region. THE FINAL SESSION TAKES PLACE WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19th from 7-9pm an extra is available starting at 6pm for warmups!
Both teams competed last year in the Toronto Central Futsal League where Platense Jrs finished as runners-up in the playoffs in addition to securing the silver medal at the 2009 OSA Futsal Cup. Both teams are now slated to play in the newly established FIFA rules Toronto Futsal League this season.
There are 12 roster spots available for each squad and quite possibly another 12 for a team that would compete in the TFL’s 2nd Division. The selected players will then participate in training twice a week in addition to pre-season friendlies and tournaments leading up to the start of the season which will start in mid-October.
Players will be assessed by coaches, including newly appointed OSA Futsal Coaching Instructor and Canadian National Futsal Goalkeeper Roy Blanche. The cost of trying out is $2 per player and includes two hours of specific futsal training and games, pinnies, and water. Only players 16+ are allowed to attend and are requested to bring futsal/indoor soccer shoes, shin guards, socks and photo ID. No spectators will be allowed to watch.
