Olimpia FC heading back to Nationals

After a highly successful season in 2016/17 in which they reached the finals of the CSA Futsal Championships in their first appearance, Olimpia FC head back to the year-end competition in Kingston, Ontario later this week to attempt to go one step further.
Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA)’s Seniors Futsal Provincial Championships took place in Saskatoon, SK on March 3-4, 2018. Vying for the top spot in the province and a berth at the 2018 Futsal Canadian National Championships in Kingston, Ontario in April, teams from around Saskatchewan battled on the hard court.
The two teams participating in this year’s competition were reigning champions, Olimpia SK FC from Saskatoon and LRUSP from Lloydminster. The format for this year’s competition was a home and away series, with the teams facing off in two matches and the winner being named by the most goals scored over the two game series.
The first game was a fast paced battle with Olimpia SK FC establishing and holding the lead through the match. A few close misses by LRUSP could have kept the game much closer than the eventual 5-0 end score.
The second game of the series saw a very technical approach by both teams, and Olimpia SK FC was able to capitalize on key scoring chances and once again, blanked LRUSP 5-0.
