New Group Stage and Schedule for CONCACAF Futsal Championships

The 2021 CONCACAF Futsal Championships have officially been scheduled for May 3-9th in Guatemala City.
The tournament has been reduced from 20 teams down to 16 with Sint Maarten, Curacao, Saint Kitts, and Puerto Rico no longer participating.
Teams making the final will need to play six games over seven days with only a one day rest after the group stage is complete.
Canada is now in a group featuring defending champions, Costa Rica, Haiti, and Dominican Republic, who move into the group stage automatically after previously having been scheduled to play Saint Kitts in a qualifier.
The competition will take place at two venues within Guatemala City including the famed Domo Polideportivo, which hosted the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup. The four teams that reach the semi-final stage will earn a spot in the 2021 World Cup in Lithuania.
It is widely expected that matches will be played without spectators due to the on-going COVID 19 pandemic.
