The 2012/13 indoor soccer season is around the corner and every single soccer team should be considering futsal as a cost-efficient, safer, and technically superior option to turf indoor.

Instead of shelling out $2500-$3500 to play 7, 9, or 11 a side, why not put some money back in your pocket by playing FIFA’s only official indoor soccer? Most legitimate futsal leagues only charge between $1100-$1600 and in order to encourage more playing time for players, some leagues even offer discounts for splitting teams in two. That’s more money for you to put in extra training, entering tournaments, buying equipment or whatever else you want. Not to mention that most leagues include their admin and referee fees within that price range.

With no arena boards and rules that fully promote and reward skill while punishing overly physical play, futsal is a safer option for youth players and those looking to play rather than going into a battle. Plus, there is a Canadian National Futsal Team which recently competed at the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championships. Whether you want to use futsal as a technical enhancer for soccer or you can see your kid putting on the red and white and representing Canada, the sport clearly offers something for players of every age to progress.

Here are some leagues that are currently taking registrations, but act quick as the growth of futsal is staggering in Canada and you don’t want to be left behind this season. The sport will be in the Olympics by the end of this decade so get in on the action today while saving your hard-earned money.
