November 23rd, 2010
The Ontario Soccer Association has announced that Futsal Sudbury, in conjunction with the Sudbury Regional Soccer Association, will be hosting their first ever OSA Futsal Referee Certification over the December 5-6th weekend at the gorgeous new athletic centre at Laurentian University.
The course will be a full 2 days and will encompass both theoretical and practical components. Naturally, the majority of the coruse will be in class while the new gymnasium facility, built just this year, will host the on court portions.
The course will be instructed by OSA Futsal Referee Instructor Bob Tibbo, who is a member of the OSA Futsal Committee and also chairs the OSA futsal referee sub-committee. He is also the chief referee of the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League and was named last week as the referee coordinator for the Toronto Invitational Futsal Tournament.
Futsal Sudbury is playing with the FIFA Laws of the Game for the first time in their history as they look to advance the game in Northern Ontario. They have operated for the last half of the decade and boast some of the best futsal courts in the province with Cambrian College and Laurentian University hosting weekly games. With the exception of completing a pre-course workbook, provided by Futsal Sudbury, there are no pre-requisites for the course and anyone is welcome to join.
