FIFA to Create Women’s Futsal World Cup
It is a truly monumental moment in futsal history.
After years of hard lobbying from everyone in the world of futsal, FIFA have finally announced that they will establish a Futsal World Cup for women.
The declaration came in Doha at a FIFA meeting during the 2022 World Cup.
This decision will certainly encourage FA’s from the world to create women’s national futsal teams, including Canada. It will also provide an opportunity for the sport to eventually be included in the Olympic Games.
The men have had a Futsal World Cup for 33 years while the women now get to write their own history.
