FIFA Futsal World Cup Draw Produces Plenty of Juicy Matches

The draw for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup took place in Zurich yesterday and produced some tantalizing matches are on tap for the group stage.
Group F is already being billed as the proverbial Group of Death with defending champions Argentina (3rd) taking on Serbia (15th), 2016 bronze medalists Iran (6th), and the USA (46th). This means 3 teams in the top 15 world rankings will battle it out for a spot in the knockout stages.
Group E will also feature some exciting matches between top nations as two-time champs and current world #1 ranked Spain will be joined by Paraguay (10th), Japan (14th), and debutants Angola (45th).
Group D will see five-time world champions Brazil (2nd) take on the Czech Republic (16th), Panama (37th), and Vietnam (43rd) while
Group C will see three continental champions in one group as European champions Portugal (5th) face Thailand (17th), African champions Morocco (18th), and four time consecutive Oceania champions from the Solomon Islands (48th) do battle on the court.
Group B will be led by 2016 silver medalists from Russia (4th) as they take on African runners-up Egypt (25th), Uzbekistan (30th), and Guatemala (35th).
Hosts Lithuania (91st) will face Venezuela (22nd) in the opening match on September 12th in Kaunas. Both teams have never participated at the World Cup and the Lithuanian crowd should provide a fantastic atmosphere. Joining them in Group A will be Kazakhstan (7th) and CONCACAF champions Costa Rica (28th).
The ninth edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup will take place from September 12th – October 3rd in three cities in Lithuania: Kaunas, Vilnius, and Klaipeda.
