Taking place over April 8-10th in Toronto, the tournament is an open national competion that will see the best mens and womens teams from across Canada compete for Canadian futsal supremacy. Priority acceptance will be given to the championship and runners-up of league, provincial, and tournament champions though all futsal or indoor soccer teams teams are eligible to enter.
WHEN: April 8-10th, 2011. Teams from out of town can request to start on the 9th to accommodate their travel requirements.
WHERE: 2 easily accessible venues in north Toronto, Ontario.
WHO: Canada’s Best Futsal Teams.
WHY: This is Canada’s Top Futsal Tournament and is the last major futsal event off the season. Win this and you have top bragging rights.
COST: $325.00 per Men’s Team. $275 for Womens – Payable via certifed cheque, Cash, or (EMT) Email Money Transfer. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your team’s spot.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1st. Sorry, we cannot guarantee there will be space left, so register early to avoid disappointment.
RULES: We will be utilizing the 2010/2011 FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game We will have a copy at each venue.
GAMES: Each team is guaranteed 3 games with 2 certified referees + a scorekeeper to manage matches.
REFEREES: Many of Canada’s most experienced futsal referees will officiate, no rookies here.
BALL: The COPA CANADA is proud to use the Penalty Max 1000 Ball, the official ball of the Spanish and Brazilian top futsal leagues
FEES: NONE! Unlike other tournaments, we don’t charge any ref, gym or admission fees, just the way it should be.
AWARDS: Champions receive a trophy with both 1st and 2nd place receive medals. There are also Tournament MVP and Goalkeeper Awards.
CASH PRIZE: Is for the mens division only and is dependent on the total # of entries received.
ELIGIBILITY: Any registered futsal or indoor soccer team is eligible to participate. No All Star teams will be allowed to compete. Each team must put the roster that they use in their respective league to qualify.
ROSTERS: A team may have a maximum roster of 12 players. 2 Coaches will be allowed to sit on the bench and must be listed on the registration form in order to qualify. Rosters must be submitted 3 days before the competition starts April 5th. Players will be asked for photo identification/player books before commencing their first match.
