Copa Canada (Canadian Futsal Championships)

Futsal Canada is proud to announce we will be introducing the Copa Canada to the futsal masses. It is a tournament which will act as the Canadian Futsal Championships, an event that has been severely lacking for years.

Although the dates have yet to be confirmed, you can put your money on late March or early April as the timeframe for the competition to go down. The venue will be held in the Greater Toronto Region (Toronto, Durham, York, or Mississauga) and will offer competition at U12, U14, U16, U18 + Mens divisions.

Futsal is being at a high level in Alberta, Quebec and Ontario right now and a operating a true national championships run by true futsal people will help the sports growth and credibility. With the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championships (we’re hearing Guatemala is hosting by the way) just around the corner, it is also a great time to bring together the top futsal talent to show their skills beyond their local futsal scene.

Besides having such a cool and catchy name, the Copa Canada name was also selected to pay homage to futsal’s South American roots.
