Futsal Canada is constantly committed to the development of women’s futsal domestically and abroad. Part of furthering the women’s game is celebrating its athletes and their accomplishments. Therefore the organization is very pleased to announce the first ever Canadian Futsal Female Player Of The Year Award.

The recipient of the inaugural award deservedly goes to Emmanuelle Alcindor of Cinque Stelle Futsal Club.

The 27 year old had a fantastic 2021/22 season in the PLFQ where she was an integral part in leading the Montréal-based club to its first Québec women’s championship.

Forming a dynamic attack with teammate Sarah Bernard-Lacaille, Alcindor finished in a three-way tie for the league scoring crown, notching nine goals from 10 matches.

In addition to her potent offensive prowess, Alcindor’s relentless two-way play and leadership are key reasons of why she received the captain’s armband. Her crowning moment of the past year was a definitive 4-1 victory in a must-win match in the final week of the season that clinched the championship.

With her tremendous year it was only natural that she was named to the provincial all star team.

With FIFA recently announcing its intention to create its first Women’s Futsal World Cup, Alcindor will surely be a name in consideration when a women’s national futsal team is finally established by Canada Soccer.
