Canada announces roster for futsal tournament in Brazil

Canada’s futsal team announced today that it will be heading to Brazil for the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal 2008. The 16-team competition runs 31 May to 8 June in Natal and Fortaleza, Brazil.

“This tournament will provide a great opportunity for me to evaluate new players in an international competition,’ says coach Ross Ongaro. ‘At this point, we are looking to build upon our existing pool of national-team players as we prepare for future FIFA events.’

Canada will learn its opponents on 28 May when the official draw is conducted. The 16 teams will be drawn into four separate groups. Groups A and B will play their matches in Fortaleza while Groups C and D will play their matches in Natal. Round-robin games run 31 May to 2 June.
