Canada Soccer Award Winners Include Young Stars


Canada Soccer has named Safwane Mlah as their 2023 Futsal Player of the Year Award.

The 22 year-old Montréal native recently participated in the national team camp that was held in his hometown last week and looks to participate in the upcoming 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championships in April.

He was an integral part of the Sporting Montréal Futsal Club that reached the Canadian club title match earlier this year in Calgary. He has also won one national championship, one Coupe du Québec, and two provincial titles so far in his early career.

Jade Rose, a former Futsal Canada youth player, has won the Canada Soccer Young Player of the Year Award. The 20 year old native of Markham, Ontario had an outstanding on the field as she was a pivotal part of leading Canada to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Though an injury prevented her from playing in the tournament, Rose showed great resiliency in her comeback later in the year. She is a key part of Harvard University’s women’s team and is well on her way to a long and successful career when she graduates.
