Big Rematch this Sunday between TIFT Mens Finalists at Durham Futsal Showcase

Boca Juniors of Toronto walked off the court this past Sunday at the end of their championship match wondering what went wrong. Up 3-1 at halftime against Canada’s #1 futsal club and their rivals, Toronto Impact, they had full control. Instead they left shaking their heads going over set plays that could’ve gone differently. The title, the $3000 cash prize, and most importantly, bragging rights were now gone.
THE TIFT MENS FINAL WILL BE BROADCAST ON THURSDAY AT 2PM AND SATURDAY AT 4PM ON OMNI TV
Only 3 days from that defeat at the Toronto Invitational Futsal Tournament Boca now have payback on their minds as they get ready for an immediate rematch vs the Impact this Sunday at 6:00pm at the first ever Durham Futsal Showcase. It will be the 4th time these two have met this season with the Impact having the slight edge with a 2-1 record. The game will be played on a full 40 x 20m hardwood court. The game will feature national team players including Julio Garcia, who scored a pair of goals in the TIFT final, Alvaro Yaques and Roy Blanche among others.
Being held at the huge triple-gym at Durham College in Oshawa, ONT, the showcase, hosted by the Durham Region Soccer Association, is going to be the breakout event for the region which has just recently launched their futsal training program. The aim was to bring two of the best teams in the country to show the expected 1000 youth players in attendance how futsal is played at a high level and what it can offer their athletic careers.
The showcase will also have video of past futsal matches along with literature discussing the rules of the game and where the kids can register for the training programs. Admission is free to everyone and all that is being asked for is a perishable food item for chairty. For more information please feel free to contact the DRSA at (905) 436 8620.
