Futsal Planet handed out their year-end awards this week and the most remarkable achievement occurred when Brazilian Amandinha became the first ever player in soccer, futsal, or beach soccer to win six consecutive player of the year honours. No, not Messi, nor Ronaldo, the legend Falcao, or even Ricardinho.

What makes Amandinha’s accomplishment even more impressive?

She is only 25 years old.

She led her club, Leoas da Serra, to the world title courtesy of two extra time goals to complete the comeback over Atletico Madrid. On the international stage, her dynamic performances were instrumental in Brazil winning both the Grand Prix and Copa America titles.

She is undoubtedly the face of women’s futsal worldwide and may even take the sport higher, similar to how Ronda Rousey elevated mixed martial arts to a more mainstream audience.
