9 de Octubre Goes Back to Back

Ontario’s 9 de Octubre were victorious for a 2nd consecutive year as they defeated Sporting Montreal 5-3 in the final of the 2024 Canada Soccer Futsal Championships in Calgary.

Both teams came in with depleted rosters as seven players from Sporting and three from Octubre were selected for the Canadian Men’s National Futsal Team who were competing at the Concacaf Futsal Championships in Nicaragua.

Despite this setback both teams went undefeated in their groups with Octubre earning their spot into the final with victories over Nunavut (10-1), Saskatoon Olimpia SK (7-3) and the Winnipeg Pioneers (4-2). Sporting defeated FC Sumy Vancouver (8-2), Whitehorse Selects Yukon (9-1), and Edmonton Scottish (9-4).

With the win, Octubre become the third club to earn a second star above their crests, joining Sporting Montreal and Toronto Idolo as the only two time champions in the competition.
