Guatemala Play Costa Rica in two Friendlies in Preparation for CONCACAF 2020
Two of the top teams in CONCACAF met for a pair of friendly matches this past in Guatemala City. Results and rosters inside.
The games took place at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, the same venue used for the 2012 CONCACAF Championship and the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
In the first encounter on October 30th, the hosts earned a 2-1 victory in what was a very close match throughout.
The next night saw Guatemala emerge as victors again with a 4-2 result.
Both teams have amped up their qualification training and friendly matches this year in preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers which take place in Guatemala sometime in May of 2020. Both nations have combined to win the last three CONCACAF Futsal Championships with the Ticos winning the last two tournaments (2012, 2016).
Guatemala will travel to Thailand in mid-December for a four-team competition featuring Oman, Thailand, and Vietnam, the latter two nations having both made the round of 16 at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
