2011 OSA Futsal Cup Set for February 26/27th

The 6th annual Ontario Soccer Association’s Futsal Cup is taking place on February 26/27th at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Durham College and some big rivalries, particularly in the womens division, may emerge once again.
A possible rematch between the North York Hearts Azzurri, last year’s U16 Girls Champions, and the team they beat out last year for the title, Etobicoke Energy, winners of the tournament 3 straight years from 2007-09, may happen in the playoff round, which would please a lot of spectators.

But it doesn’t just end there. The womens division this year is stacked like never before with Scarborough GS United and Woodbridge Azzurri looking to rough the waters in search of gold. 4 of the teams play in the Liga de Oro, one of the better known futsal-style-but-not-quite-futsal leagues in northwest Toronto. Filling out the cast is the Nepean Hotspurs 93 Devils (OCFL) and the inaugural womens division champions from 2007, Windsor Caboto (unaffiliated), a team full of futsal talent and experience. On paper, the division looks like it will be one of the best womens competitions of the last decade.
Toronto Boca Juniors of the Toronto Futsal League will look to secure their 2nd consecutive mens title by beating out South Huron United, Ottawa St. Mary (OCFL) and one of the most promising youth futsal teams in North America, the Toronto Eagles U17 squad, whom are undefeated in the U17 division of the TFL. This team won the 2010 Toronto Invitational Futsal Tournament U16 last year and are looking for a taste of mens division glory.
The U13 Boys Division features teams all new to the OSA Futsal Cup and include the Oshawa Turul Boys Revolution 2000 squad making the two year jump up, Halton-Peel Futsal League All Star team (HPFL), Ottawa WTS (OCFL), and the London L.A.C. Spartans 99 team of the London Canadian Futsal League.
The U13 Girls will see the North Mississauga Panthers (Unaffiliated) take on the Oshawa Turul 1998 1 (TFL), Unionville Milliken Strikers (TFL), and the Oshawa Turul 1998 2 squad (TFL) in a four team competition.
