Both the Lakeland Rustlers men's team and Medicine Hat Rustlers women's teams brought ironclad defences to Ambrose College for the first tournament in the 2014 ACAC futsal calendar.

With both teams conceding a mere four goals in their opening four matches this past weekend they made a statement of intent to the rest of the conference regarding their title ambitions.

Lakeland opened up the competition with a 6-0 morning win over 2013 champions Keyano before generating a big 9-0 victory against hosts Ambrose to finish off the opening day.

On Sunday, they continued their dominance with a 13-3 result over Medicine Hat and a 9-1 win over Olds to close out the round.

The Rustlers women's side opened up their season with a 6-0 shutout against Olds before going to defeat Keyano by a 5-2 score. They showcased some excellent offensive prowess in their Sunday matches with 5-1 and 8-1 victories over Lakeland and Ambrose.

The three tournament series continues on February 7-9th as Lakeland will host, which is good news for the Rustlers men's side that look to further their momentum in front of a home crowd.
